How does the first week run?
Eastshade Studios built Songs of Glimmerwick as a quest-driven adventure RPG that happens to have beds. Farming is intentionally shorter than a traditional farm sim, because tools can be charmed to work while you leave. The Songs of Glimmerwick walkthrough week follows letters and the quest log, not a sunrise checklist of twelve crops.
Flute tested, cauldron and uniform in hand, dorm found
2
Letters: music class tomorrow, Dean today
Garden job, till confirmed, basil in small plots, watered
3
Music class
Melody of Stones practiced in the back chambers; basil watered again

Fishing is a rhythm cast. Do not force the woods
Mana budgets the day, the clock does not
The clock freezes every night and during important events, and a late walk does not dump you back in bed with a penalty. Students still receive letters that name the next morning’s class, so “no penalty” is not “skip class.” If a day feels short, you ran out of mana. Snacks, bathhouse steam, and an early mana skill are the refills. A thorough player can spend most of an hour on a single busy day; that is pace, not a timer you must beat.
Read this week, not a 100% spring route
One careful spring, ending on the sea-flower festival, ran several hours and still left summer, a pamphlet mystery, and a curse called the cacophony unfinished. This walkthrough stops at the shape of week one. Named achievement lists stay on achievements until the Steam overlay is copied. The free slice, if the store still shows it, covers the front of this table only — see demo.
If you only needed the till confirm and the flute, the beginner guide is the shorter page. The rest of this walkthrough is the order those systems arrive in.
What must I finish before the ceremony?
Day one of this Songs of Glimmerwick walkthrough is a supply loop. Nothing in the dorm matters until the flute exists and the town bag is full.
Flute first, shops during the craft
The headmistress points you at a master flute maker near Whisk and clears the path. He asks a short set of fitting questions, including at least one joke answer, then needs time to build. Use that wait. At the town entrance you get a shop map. Pick up the skill license, the cauldron with its potion starter set, and the free uniform. Then collect the flute and play the test phrase. That phrase is not a spell yet.
The license is a small skill tree. The first boons on offer are better potion-making scores, more mana, or seeds when you harvest. Take the one your next morning needs. If you already know you will retill plots, mana is the boring correct pick. Full tree: skills.
Ceremony, room, then sleep
The welcome ceremony is back on campus. You are shown a room. A roommate may be delayed — that is the scene, not a bug. Other students are outside the dorms if you want names in your head before day two. Friends are the relationship Steam actually describes. Do not hunt a romance menu. Romance explains what is unconfirmed.
Sleep when the bag is done. Tomorrow’s letters are the walkthrough’s next gate, and they will not be in the ceremony hall.
When do the garden job and first spells land?
Day two starts with two letters: music class the following morning, and an invitation to the Dean. Do the Dean before you explore aimlessly. She assigns the botanical garden and teaches the till.
Beat
Walkthrough action
Interview
Odd questions, then the garden job. Other jobs are not listed here
Song of Tilling
RB layout, LB size, X confirm on a controller. Fork tills. Mana is spent
Basil
Small plots. Water from the pond. Quest log has the clipping count
Dead wood
Second chant. A to target a felled tree, X to confirm. Living trees are protected
Weeds
Not magical. Buy a scythe in the Whisk seed shop
Well
Toss spare goods. Payment arrives at night
Evening
Student meet-and-greet, then bed
Plot size is a week-long tax
Large plots feel efficient and then refuse basil. Retilling costs another chunk of mana you wanted for the wood chant. Confirm small plots the first time. Pin Song of Tilling in the songbook until mastery lets you insta-cast it from the spell bar. Note letters stay unpublished because the prompt changes every practice.
A sentinel shrub on a side path wants a hardness potion before anyone new may pass. You cannot brew that until potion class. Mark the path and leave. The class schedule is the next morning, not another lap of Whisk.
Which classes show up in week one?
Week-one courses introduce a mechanic, a festival chore, or a recipe. They are not a combat academy. Show up when the letter says so; the practice rooms exist so the minigame does not eat the garden.
Music, then stones
The music door has a note symbol. The lecture is island history — a cult that banned music, a forest that amplifies songs, a fire that thinned magic for a generation. You do not need the lecture memorized to cast. After it, the class teaches Melody of Stones for boulders in the beds. Step into the rear chambers. Time slows there. Drill until the song will cast, then go water.
Miss the door once and you will tour the library, the bathhouse, and the potion lab by accident. The bathhouse steam refills mana if you sit; swimming wants water wear. One pretzel from the common room is the free snack. Both are legal mid-week refills. Course list beyond this week: classes.
Potions, then the outdoor flower day
Potion class is a timed mixing minigame: place ingredients in cauldrons before the timer ends. Quality follows the score. One hardness lesson in play asked for sticks and grass tufts — read the recipe on the board, not a copied count. Homework can be extra brews for a professor; check your log before you sell the stack in the well.
The next herbology block may not be a desk. One week-one session sends the class outside to gather flowers for a festival float and to vote on the float’s shape. Official copy also describes classes handing you a festival goal like flowers for the float, or a recipe you will need on a quest. Bring the scythe and a mana snack. Casting rules for the songs those classes add: songs.

By the end of the first week the garden is a daily water, town shops are familiar, and the quest log is longer than the class list. Coast and forest are invitations, not the main path of this Songs of Glimmerwick walkthrough.
Coast: rod, then a different tune per fish
A pier and a beach shop are the fishing lead in play. A rod may be for sale. If you spent the morning on seeds you may not afford it the same day; come back after a well payout. Casting is a rhythm prompt; a full fish catalog is TBA.
Play includes a warning about blue mushrooms in the woods. Treat that as a journal/dialogue line, not a wiki curse recipe (mana loss, potions, teas). Green Sprites expeditions and moth racing are official extracurriculars with no week-one route list.
What this week deliberately skips
End-of-spring festival diving, a second instrument reward, pamphlet quests, and summer are past week one. So are crop prices, achievement names, and any letter-by-letter song. The official trailer also describes one-off quests — a rare bird with a forgotten melody, mysterious flyers around the school — as hand-authored tasks, not templates. Follow the log when those appear. They are not required to finish the seven days above.
If your install is still the free slice, you will stall before this coast section. Compare that limit on the demo page, then come back.
What should I open next?
Next: see how much of this week the free slice actually contains on demo, or pin the spells this week teaches on songs. Beds and the scythe live on gardening.
FAQ
Is this a full Songs of Glimmerwick walkthrough?
It is the first week in order: ceremony, garden job, music, potions, then outdoor class if your letters say so. A later Steam achievement names the Seaflower Festival. Puzzle solutions stay off this page; achievement names live on the achievements page.
Are there bosses?
No boss route is part of this week. The official site calls the game a peaceful, story-driven RPG. “No combat” is a media description, not a Steam feature bullet you should treat as a guarantee about every creature.
What happens if I stay out after dark?
The clock freezes at night and during important events, and you are not sent to bed with a penalty. You can still run out of mana. Class letters still name a morning.
When do I fish or join the band?
Not on day one. A rod is sold on the beach once you can pay. The band, moth racing, and Green Sprites expeditions are official extras without a published week-one checklist.
